 Alpha Omega Chapter
Eta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Sorority, was formally
organized in March, 1917, and was the first Graduate
Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. It was originally
called the Women’s College Club and received a Charter
membership in Alpha Kappa Alpha on December 1, 1917.
Eta Chapter became Alpha Omega Chapter in 1922, when
the sorority’s rules stipulated that Graduate Chapters be
designated as “Omega” combined with other letters of the
Greek alphabet in their order of chartering. Therefore, Eta Chapter, the first Graduate Chapter, took the first
letter of the Greek alphabet, “Alpha” and added “Omega,”
as required.
In 1992, Alpha Omega Chapter celebrated its 75th
Anniversary. Not willing to rest on its record, the
chapter continues to provide high-quality programs
designed to enhance the quality of life in the Greater
Cleveland community.
Though every chapter member makes a unique contribution
to the effectiveness of Alpha Omega Chapter, we are
especially grateful for the steadfast devotion and
leadership of Silver Stars (25 year members), Life Members
( 25 year members), Golden Sorors (50 year members) and
